Apple Pie Steel-Cut Oats in the Deluxe Multi Cooker

Whether you love meal prepping or simply crave a hot, hearty breakfast, these Apple Pie Steel-Cut Oats deserve a place in your morning routine. Made with whole ingredients, fresh apples, warming spices, and maple syrup, they deliver all the cozy flavor of apple pie in a nourishing breakfast.

The Deluxe Multi Cooker makes preparation wonderfully hands-off. Make a batch for the family, portion it into grab-and-go breakfasts, or freeze individual servings for later.

Why Steel-Cut Oats?

Steel-cut oats are less processed than rolled oats, giving them a pleasantly chewy texture and hearty flavor. They take longer to cook on the stovetop, but pressure cooking makes the process quick and easy.

For a certified gluten-free breakfast, be sure to choose oats labeled gluten-free.

Apple Pie Steel-Cut Oats Recipe

Servings: Approximately 4
Prep time: 10 minutes
Pressure-cooking time: 10 minutes
Natural release: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup steel-cut oats, rinsed
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup oat milk or another nondairy milk
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil, optional
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 apples, cored and chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 1½ teaspoons Cinnamon Plus Spice blend, pumpkin pie spice, or ground cinnamon
  • 1½ teaspoons double-strength vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt, optional

Instructions

  1. Add the rinsed steel-cut oats to the stainless-steel pot of the Deluxe Multi Cooker.
  2. Pour in the water and oat milk. Nondairy milk works especially well because dairy milk may scorch during pressure cooking.
  3. Add the coconut oil and maple syrup. For sweeter oatmeal, increase the maple syrup to 3-4 Tbsp..
  4. Core the apples and chop them into small, bite-sized pieces. There’s no need to peel them—the skins add color, texture, and extra fiber. Add the apples to the pot.
  5. Stir in the cinnamon spice blend, vanilla extract, and salt.
  6. Secure the lid and select the Whole Grain setting. Set the cooking time to 10 minutes and start the cooker.
  7. Once cooking is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes. Carefully release any remaining pressure according to the cooker’s instructions.
  8. Remove the lid and stir the oats. They may look slightly loose at first but will continue to thicken as they rest.

Serving Ideas

These oats are delicious straight from the pot, or you can dress them up with:

  • A splash of oat milk
  • An extra drizzle of maple syrup
  • Fresh apple slices or berries
  • Chopped walnuts or pecans
  • A spoonful of nut butter
  • An additional sprinkle of cinnamon

Make-Ahead and Storage Tips

Divide the oatmeal among individual containers for an easy breakfast throughout the week. It will keep in the refrigerator for about four days.

You can also freeze individual portions. Transfer one to the refrigerator before bed, then reheat it in the morning with a splash of nondairy milk to restore its creamy consistency.

Warm, filling, and packed with comforting apple-pie flavor, these steel-cut oats make wholesome breakfasts feel like a treat. Enjoy!

I haven’t done that, but you should be able to do it. Use the 3 Qt Micro-Cooker and try a half batch since this could be prone to boil over in the microwave.
