Apple Berry Salsa With Cinnamon Chips

If you love recipes that can be used in several different ways, you’ll want to try this Apple Berry Salsa. It’s fresh, colorful, naturally sweet, and made entirely with fruit—no added sugar needed!

Serve it with cinnamon chips for a snack or dessert, pack it as a fruit cup in lunchboxes, spoon it over vanilla ice cream, or blend it into a smoothie. Because the fruit is chopped into small pieces, it’s also easy for younger children or anyone with braces to eat.

Here’s the recipe

Apple Berry Salsa Ingredients

  • Fresh strawberries, washed and dried
  • 2 apples
  • 1–2 kiwi fruit
  • A small amount of fresh orange juice
  • Optional: A little orange zest
  • Cinnamon pita chips, churro-style chips, or multigrain scoops for serving

The exact amounts are flexible, so this is a great recipe to adjust based on the fruit you have available.

How to Make Apple Berry Salsa

Start by cutting the apples into wedges and removing the cores. I like using the Apple Wedger because it makes this so quick.

Add the apple wedges to the Electric Twist & Chop, working with one apple at a time. Pulse until the pieces are small enough to fit easily on a dipping chip. You want a salsa-like texture, but be careful not to process the fruit too much.

Peel and roughly chop the kiwi fruit, then remove the tops from the strawberries. Add both fruits to the Twist & Chop and give them a few quick pulses.

Transfer all the chopped fruit to a bowl.

Squeeze a small amount of fresh orange juice over the fruit and stir everything together. The orange juice adds a hint of sweetness and citrus flavor while helping to keep the apples from browning.

You can also add a little orange zest, but my family prefers it without.

That’s all there is to it!

Naturally Sweet With No Added Sugar

The original version of this classic Pampered Chef recipe calls for a couple of tablespoons of brown sugar. I don’t think it needs it. The apples, strawberries, kiwi, and orange juice provide plenty of natural sweetness on their own.

You can serve the salsa immediately or store it in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to three days.

What to Serve With Apple Berry Salsa

We love this salsa with cinnamon pita chips. If you can’t find those, try grain-free churro cinnamon chips or multigrain scoop-style tortilla chips. Choose a sturdy chip that can hold plenty of fruit without breaking.

You can also enjoy it:

  • Packed as a fruit cup in a lunchbox
  • Spooned over vanilla ice cream
  • Added to yogurt or oatmeal
  • Blended into a fruit smoothie
  • Served with pancakes or waffles
  • Eaten straight from the bowl

A Helpful Apple Lunchbox Tip

The Apple Wedger is also handy when you want to pack a whole apple for lunch.

Press the wedger almost—but not completely—all the way through the apple. Gently pull it back up, pushing from the safe top portion rather than near the blades. Leave the core and wedges together, press the apple back into its original shape, and place it in a zip-top bag.

At lunchtime, the wedges can simply be pulled away from the core. Keeping the apple together helps reduce how quickly the cut sides turn brown.

This Apple Berry Salsa is easy, healthy, and useful for much more than dipping. Give it a try and let me know how you decide to serve it!
