Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie

If you love the classic combination of peanut butter and jelly, wait until you try it in a smoothie! This Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie is creamy, fruity, and packed with protein, making it a great option for breakfast, lunch, or an afternoon pick-me-up.

The “jelly” flavor comes from a combination of fresh strawberries and frozen berries. I used aronia berries because a friend of mine grows them, but frozen blueberries or blackberries will work just as well.

Here’s the recipe

Don’t Toss Those Strawberry Tops!

Did you know you don’t have to remove the green tops from strawberries before adding them to a smoothie? If you’re willing to add spinach to your smoothie, you can leave the strawberry greens on, too. You’ll save a little preparation time and reduce food waste.

Just be sure to wash the strawberries well before adding them to your Deluxe Cooking Blender.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients

  • Fresh strawberries, washed
  • Frozen aronia berries, blueberries, or blackberries
  • 1 generous tablespoon peanut butter
  • Soy milk
  • Ice
  • 1 scoop protein powder, optional
  • A handful of spinach or kale, optional

Directions

  1. Add the strawberries and frozen berries to your Deluxe Cooking Blender.
  2. Add a generous tablespoon of peanut butter. I used homemade peanut butter that I made in the Deluxe Cooking Blender, but your favorite store-bought peanut butter is perfectly fine. You can also use powdered peanut butter if you prefer.
  3. Pour in the soy milk and add the ice.
  4. Add one scoop of protein powder, if desired. The original recipe calls for unflavored protein powder, but I usually have chocolate on hand—and chocolate works beautifully with peanut butter and berries!
  5. Select the smoothie setting on the Deluxe Cooking Blender and let it do the work.
  6. Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately.

A Protein-Packed Smoothie

Using soy milk, peanut butter, and protein powder gave my smoothie approximately 37 grams of protein. Your total will vary depending on the brands and amounts you use, but it can make a very satisfying meal or snack.

If you’re choosing a non-dairy milk and want more protein, compare the labels. Soy milk is often one of the higher-protein options.

What Are Aronia Berries?

Aronia berries look similar to blueberries and create a gorgeous deep purple colored smoothie. They have a tart flavor and are known for their rich color and antioxidant content.

They may not be available in every grocery store, so don’t worry if you can’t find them. Frozen blueberries or blackberries are easy substitutes and still give you that familiar peanut butter and jelly combination.

More Than a Smoothie Blender

One thing I love about the Deluxe Cooking Blender is its programmed settings. In addition to making super-smooth smoothies, it can make alternative milks, nut butter, soups, purees, jam, and sauces.

It also has a heated wash setting. Add three cups of water and a drop of dish detergent, choose the setting, and the blender helps clean itself.

This Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie is colorful, filling, and so delicious. You can even add a handful of spinach or kale for an extra serving of greens without losing the flavors you love.

Would you try yours with blueberries, blackberries, or aronia berries?
