Garlic Butter Sauteed Imitation Crab Meat & Pasta in the Stainless Steel Cookware (A Quick & Easy Pantry Meal)

A simple seafood-inspired pasta dish made from ingredients you probably already have on hand.

My challenge for you today is simple: head to your freezer and see what ingredients are waiting to be used!

That’s exactly how this recipe came together. I found some homemade pasta in my freezer, along with leftover imitation crab meat from a recent California roll night. A quick search online gave me some inspiration, and before long, dinner was on the table.

The result? A light, flavorful pasta dish that tastes a little special but comes together in about 15 minutes.

Let’s make it together!

Here’s the recipe

What You’ll Need

  • 8 oz pasta (homemade or store-bought)
  • Leftover imitation crab meat
  • 2 tbsp butter, divided
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • ½ tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • ½ cup green onions, sliced
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Reserved pasta water (optional)

Why I Love This Recipe

This recipe checks all my favorite boxes:

✓ Uses freezer ingredients

✓ Reduces food waste

✓ Ready in minutes

✓ Budget-friendly

✓ Family-friendly

✓ Minimal cleanup

Most importantly, it proves that leftovers don’t have to feel like leftovers.

Step 1: Cook the Pasta

Bring a 3 Qt Stainless Steel Sauce Pan with water to a boil and cook your pasta according to package directions.

I happened to have homemade pasta in the freezer, but store-bought pasta works beautifully too.

Julie’s Tip

For a recipe like this, spaghetti, linguine, or another long noodle works especially well.

Step 2: Save Some Pasta Water

Before draining the pasta, scoop out about a cup of the cooking water.

The starch in the pasta water can help create a silky sauce later.

Julie’s Tip

Always save the pasta water before draining. It’s much easier than wishing you had some after it’s gone down the drain!

Step 3: Build the Flavor Base

While the pasta cooks, heat a 12-inch Stainless Steel Skillet over medium heat.

Add:

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • ½ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, pressed with the Garlic Press

Cook briefly, stirring constantly.

Important

Garlic cooks quickly and can burn fast, so keep an eye on it.

The goal is fragrant and flavorful—not browned.

Step 4: Add the Green Onions

Stir in:

  • ½ cup sliced green onions

Cook for just a few minutes until they begin to soften.

The aroma at this point is incredible.

The garlic, butter, and Old Bay create a simple but delicious flavor combination.

Step 5: Add the Crab

Stir in your imitation crab meat.

This doesn’t need much cooking time since it’s already fully cooked.

We’re simply warming it through and allowing it to absorb all those wonderful flavors.

Julie’s Tip

This recipe is ideal for using leftover crab meat from sushi nights, seafood salads, or appetizers.

Step 6: Finish the Sauce

Add:

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Give everything a good stir.

The lemon brightens the entire dish and balances the richness of the butter beautifully.

Step 7: Add Pasta Water (Optional)

If you’d like a slightly saucier dish, stir in a splash of reserved pasta water.

The starch helps create a light sauce that coats the pasta without feeling heavy.

You don’t need much—just enough to loosen everything up.

Step 8: Combine and Serve

Add your cooked pasta to the skillet and toss everything together until evenly coated.

Warm for another minute or two, then serve immediately.

Serving Suggestions

This simple pasta is wonderful on its own, but you could also serve it with:

  • A crisp green salad
  • Roasted vegetables
  • Garlic bread
  • Fresh fruit

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

✓ Great freezer-cleanout meal

✓ Fast enough for busy weeknights

✓ Uses inexpensive ingredients

✓ Light and flavorful

✓ Easy to customize

✓ Minimal food waste

✓ Restaurant-inspired without the restaurant price

Freezer Challenge

One of my favorite kitchen habits is shopping my freezer before shopping the grocery store.

You’d be surprised what you can create when you start with ingredients you already have.

This pasta dish was built from leftovers and pantry staples, but it turned into a dinner that felt fresh and intentional.

That’s a win in my book!

Final Thoughts

Not every great meal starts with a recipe. Sometimes it starts with opening the freezer, finding a few forgotten ingredients, and getting creative.

This Crab Pasta is proof that simple ingredients can come together into something delicious, quick, and satisfying.

So here’s my challenge for you: What’s hiding in your freezer right now that could become tonight’s dinner?

I’d love to hear what ingredients you’re planning to use up!
